Bio

I was born and raised in Morristown, TN.  I attended school in Morristown and graduated from Morristown West High.  I began my college education at Walters State Community College, but I decided to put my education on hold while I began my family.  I have a very loving and supportive husband, two awesome sons and ten wonderful grandchildren.  While raising my two sons, I participated in various activities, such as, children’s church, cub scouts and was a proud soccer mom.  I worked as an accounts payable and receivable clerk for several years and became a licensed insurance agent.  I knew something was missing in my life.  I prayed God would place me in a position where I could make a difference in other’s lives.  I had the opportunity to return to college when my sons were in high school.  I had always wanted to be a teacher, so I completed my B.A. degree and received a teaching license.  I was offered a position with Hamblen County Schools to teach in the Adult Education Program.  I spent the next fourteen years teaching and helping adults obtain a GED.   I was devastated when the adult education program was taken over by another agency.  I truly loved working with adults, but I chose to continue with Hamblen County Schools.  I feel God is continuing to use me in my position at Miller Boyd Alternative School.  Every student has their own story, and Miller Boyd Alternative School is giving them a second chance.  It is my prayer; I can help these students find the right path and go on to make the right choices for their lives.  I am honored and blessed to be a staff member at MBAS.
